Religions in Ollundra - Part 1

In the first of our development diaries into the world of Ollundra we wanted to discuss the influence and effects that religion has upon the people of Ollundra.

The denizens of Ollindra have a varied outlook into religion, with the majority of the human civilisations worshipping the Phadrea.

The Phadrea is a pantheon of human deities which is led by nine greater gods and goddesses. The chief of which is Vaterlos who is revered as the father of mankind.

Each of the deities has a primary role within the pantheon in order to keep the primordial energies they control in balance. This role provides the deity with their primary discipline and purpose, be it shepherding the dead or nurturing the living.

The chief members of the Phadrea are:-

Vaterlos: Father of the World

Shi' Ara: Lady of Light

Um' Dromini: The Lord of Shadow

Bel' Sule: The Maiden of Beauty

Ara: The Guardian of the World

Coratio: The Lord of Life Stream

Mortis: Master of the Dead

Kel' Atarus: Lord of War

Casterro: Master of Destruction

Whilst each of the gods and goddesses may have powers unimaginable to the normal people of Ollundra they are in turn bound by celestial laws, laws that mortal men could not comprehend.

The chief of these laws is that balance must be given at all time with no one entity, race or creature gaining dominance over the world.

As such it is common for deities to shift their support of their worshippers several times over a conflict or in some cases ignore it entirely.

It is this balanced outlook that has led to the situation where a single god could easily be worshipped by two very different foe or ideals and it is not uncommon for both sides of a battle to call for favour from the same deity.

We hope you have enjoyed the above first look into the gods of Ollundra, we will be posting an insight into each of these gods and goddesses over the next week before moving onto the Elven pantheon

Please be aware that the Chronicles of Ollundra setting is still in development and therefore is subject to change.
