Introducing the Trinity Magic System

Earlier this year we posted a series of development diaries outlining the combat and roleplaying system that we are currently developing for the Dynamic Roleplaying System.

Today we wanted to introduce the core magic system for the Dynamic Roleplaying System which is currently known as the Trinity Magic System.

The Trinity magic system has been designed to work in concert with the skill based non linear feel of the system

To do this the magic system was split into the three different style of magic, learned magic, channeled magic and Wild magic.

  • Learned Magic will let players emulate lore masters and traditional mages where magic is a trained skill

  • Channeled magic emulates the ability for a character to draw their power from a god or artifact.

  • Wild magic allows players to weave magic spells to create effects limited only by the casters imagination.

In addition to the Trinity system allowing players to specialise in different styles of magic, they can also be used along side other skills allowing players to create sword wielding spell casters or armoured warlocks the combinations are endless and will only limited by the players imaginations.

Another additon the Trinity magic system will elso employ a system called "tweaking" where a player will be able to adjust the effects of a spell on the fly but at a cost allowing players to further customise the spells.

We will be covering the tweaking system in a later development diary.

If you have any questiosn regarding this then please let us know.
